Lenovo announced the third generations of its ThinkPad X13, ThinkPad X13 Yoga, ThinkPad L13, L13 Yoga, ThinkPad L14, and ThinkPad L15 today with options for the latest mobile CPUs from Intel and AMD.

The vendor will offer all of the laptops announced today with up to a Core i7 Intel 12th-Gen mobile CPU. However, the ThinkPad X13 Gen 3 will also have the option for AMD’s latest mobile processors, the Ryzen Pro 6000 Series. And the refreshed L-Series laptops will have options for AMD’s older 5000 Pro Series mobile chips, in addition to the Intel option.

Dolby Voice with spatial audio is a nod to the rise of virtual meetings and remote work. It also includes features like dynamic leveling to “automatically adjust for voices that are quieter or farther away,” according to Lenovo, and noise suppression across conferencing platforms.

Also in the audio category, front-facing speakers from Dolby Audio are an upgrade in the ThinkPad X13 Gen 3 and X13 Yoga. Additionally, the refreshed laptops have 1080p cameras with Windows Hello facial recognition and physical covers to ensure no one is watching. All of the laptops support 4G LTE, with the L13 and L13 Yoga doing so for the first time. The ThinkPad X13 Gen 3, meanwhile, has the option for 5G sub-6.

Security considerations include power buttons with fingerprint readers, ThinkShield (Lenovo’s hardware-software combo security platform that also includes a TPM), and Microsoft Secured-Core certification. Further, the Ryzen Pro 6000 chips offered in the ThinkPad X13 have Microsoft Pluton, but the security chip’s features should be off by default.

The highest-end laptops detailed today are the ThinkPad X13 Yoga Gen 3 and its nonconvertible version. Both come with up to 32GB of memory, 2TB of storage, and 13.3-inch screens with 2560×1600 resolution and 400 nits of brightness.

Ports vary depending on if you get the PCs with an Intel or AMD CPU. Either chip will land you an HDMI 2.0b port, SIM card slot, and 3.5 mm jack. But only Intel chips can support a pair of Thunderbolt 4 ports. Meanwhile, the AMD versions get USB-C 3.1 Gen 1 and USB 4 (also Type-C) instead.

You can get the ThinkPad X13 with either a 41 Wh battery or, for up to 40 percent longer battery life, a 54.7 Wh battery. But for the biggest battery, you’ll want the 57 Wh option that’s only available with the X13 Yoga. Lenovo claims the battery will last up to 13.6 hours.

The ThinkPad X13 Yoga will start at $1,369 in June, while the clamshell starts at $1,179.

The third generation of the L13 Yoga and L13 move the 13.3-inch screens to the 16:10 aspect ratio rather than the shorter 16:9. Outside of the L-series, the rest of the ThinkPad lineup has moved to this aspect ratio. The 1920×1200 screens should be pretty bright at up to 500 nits.

Lenovo’s latest L13s will be configurable with up to 32GB of memory and a 1TB SSD. In addition to the 1080p webcam, the L13s will also have an optional 5MP camera on the lid.

On the decks of the new L13s, you’ll find HDMI 2.0b, a 3.5 mm jack, a SIM slot, two USB-A ports, and two USB-C ports. If it’s an Intel machine, one of those USB-C ports will be Thunderbolt 4.

In May, the AMD version of the L13 will start at $799 for the clamshell and $979 for the Yoga. Meanwhile, the Intel versions will be $859 and $1,039, respectively.

ThinkPad L15 Gen 3 and L14 Gen 3

Finally, Lenovo announced the latest versions of the 15.6-inch L15 and 14-inch L14. The 1920×1080-resolution laptops come with up to 64GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.

Lenovo will sell the laptops with 42, 57, or (if you get an Intel version) 63 Wh batteries. They have HDMI 2.0b, two USB-C ports (one Thunderbolt 4 on Intel models), two USB-A ports, a SIM slot, microSD card reader, 3.5 mm jack, and RJ-45.

Lenovo’s announcement comes two weeks after it revealed its first ThinkPad to run Windows on an Arm-based processor, the ThinkPad X13. That was also when Lenovo announced refreshes to the ThinkPad X1 Extreme and its T series of ThinkPads.
